Yeah, there really could be. Dogs like to pee on and near things, and other dogs like similar places, and dogs like to pee where other dogs have peed, and eventually it kills the grass, and if it hasn't rained for a long time it can start to stink, and sometimes their poop is not of a consistency that allows it to be picked up without remainder, and people lie on the grass on campuses...
It's certainly not impossible that there are real problems. You probably shouldn't walk your dog on campus every time... Me, I'm not a big fan of dogs in cities anyway. Seems kinda hard on the dog, IMO...
