NewNewspeak: "Deadnaming"

   At this point, it would surprise me not at all if core elements of the PC left eventually revealed themselves as part of a massive Sokal-style hoax. They really can't get any more Orwellian unless they just flat-out adopt the terminology 'Newspeak,' 'thoughtcrime,' 'doublethink,' etc. They already largely accept the concepts and the theories behind them...I don't know what else they could do except adopt the exact terminology and see whether anyone has the temerity to criticize them.
   "Deadnaming" is a PC neologism meaning, roughly: referring to someone transgendered with their old name. So, for example, say I want to talk about a certain celebrity, and do so thusly: Caitlyn (nee Bruce) Jenner. I have thereby just committed the mortal wordcrime of deadnaming. Here's what Tuvel wrote in her abstract:

Former NAACP chapter head Rachel Dolezal’s attempted transition from the white to the black race occasioned heated controversy. Her story gained notoriety at the same time that Caitlyn (formerly Bruce) Jenner graced the cover of Vanity Fair, signaling a growing acceptance of transgender identity. Yet criticisms of Dolezal for misrepresenting her birth race indicate a widespread social perception that it is neither possible nor acceptable to change one’s race in the way it might be to change one’s sex. Considerations that support transgenderism seem to apply equally to transracialism. Although Dolezal herself may or may not represent a genuine case of a transracial person, her story and the public reaction to it serve helpful illustrative purposes.

That's one of the things she's being doubleplushatemobbed for by rightthinkers.

   Oh and: she's also hatefodder for using the word 'transgenderism' to mean transgenderism instead of using the word 'transgender' to mean transgenderism. As I've insisted, 'transgenderism' is the correct way to refer to the state of being transgender/transgendered. But that's for a different post. Again, the meta-level points are more important: the obsession with mere words--not their meanings--and the insistence on conformity with whatever is decreed politically correct, even when it's wrong...these are crazy and wrong and have to be resisted.
