I am glad that casualties are going down. That is wonderful. But I don't think these numbers are necessarily a reflection of the whole picture.
I'm certain there will be responses that mention Operation Swarmer and all that. I am also certain I will never go back to that site to read those responses.
As I noted in comments there, I wasn't much impressed with that post beyond its link to Brookings. Plenty of reasonable pessimistic ways to interpret that data.
Just glancing at the chart on page 4, I see a similar drop off in the same period for the last two years. I think it's too early for predictions of "last throes."
