I can see it now...a gold-plated U.S.S. Mar-a-Lago with 20" guns...tremendous guns...the greatest guns ever...and the thickest armor belts ever...
Every military hardware nerd's heart leaps at the thought of battleships coming back...but I doubt anyone thinks it's actually a good idea. Though maybe...if railguns actually work out... Or, as the article suggests, maybe if they just massive arrays of VLS tubes.
Trying to predict this stuff just makes fools of people like me. Who knows? Maybe antimissile tech will be so good in 20 years that big guns are a thing again. But probably not. But maybe...
