I'm not all that surprised by this. The left--which includes the MSM--has shown that it will do and say just about anything to preserve its de facto open border position. Their view, distilled down to its basics, is that no one should be stopped at the border, and no one--not even criminals--should be deported.
In fact, everyone here illegally should be subject to deportation. I'm willing to make exceptions for people who have been here an unusually long time and have proven themselves to be good citizens. But that is unlikely to be even half of the 30 million-ish illegals likely to currently be in the country. (Note: the actual number is in dispute.)
The Trump administration isn't even really trying to deport people here illegally who aren't violent criminals or security threats--which is an outrage IMO. Or it would be if they had any real chance of doing it. But, as you can see, they're already up against the left's propaganda machine...and apparently losing. Their tough talk is, IMO, a way to get more illegals to self-deport, and to prevent people from wanting to sneak in.
I don't know how we can counter the vast network of crucial institutions--from the bureaucracy through universities to the media--that have been ideologically captured by the left.
But we sure better figure out something if we want the nation to survive.
Which...the vanguard of the left doesn't want...and many progressives seem to be fairly indifferent to, IMO...
But on the bright side, this seems to be just one poll, and these numbers are likely fluid.
