Audrey Fahlberg: Democrats are Still Lost in the Wilderness

We're not--or at least I'm not--sure exactly why the Democrats lost last year.
What we have are hypotheses...and hypotheses, as you know, are largely guesses.
And they have a fair bit of subjectivity in them.
Me, I think the Dems went insane when they capitulated to the extreme left, ca. 2017. That's the fact that looms largest in my mind...so naturally it's the explanation that seems most plausible to me.
Dems, OTOH, like every losing political party, tend to favor self-serving explanations. Nobody ever says "our ideas are terrible and so people voted against us." What they say is things like we see Dems saying here: Our ideas are good, but we didn't get our message out...something something wrong style...too timid/conservative, needs more cow bell / we need to do more of what we already wanted to do anyway...
   Which is fine with me.
Keep denying the most plausible explanation, keep doing the same crazy shit, raise the probability of losing next time, too.
But, as I keep saying, the Dems remaining radicalized is a double-edged sword: it lowers the chance they'll win,...but increases the damage if they do. And, inevitably, they will win again...some day...
Apparently what passes for the Democrat center these days is still plagued by attacks from the left--at their own allegedly centrist conference they had Hamasniks leaping onto the stage yelling one of their little Palestine slogans...
I still think my hypothesis--a not-uncommon one, so far as I can tell--is most plausible. When one party adopts a whole array of utterly insane policies...and, worse, adopts a worldview and a method of reasoning that are utterly nuts...well...at least some people notice that and reject it. Hard-core lefties and tribalists will vote blue no matter who. (Of course something analogous goes for the right.) Sadly, insane beliefs do not guarantee electoral loss. But they do increase its probability.
Maybe to some extent the Dems are just waiting around for Trump to do enough things to alienate enough people for them to win...which I've gotta say seems like not the worst strategy in the world.
