Kind off topic, but: One reason the pendulum is swinging too far among the far left is the truly unbelievable crap that occasionally comes out, as is true for the Matt Lauer firing. I am *still* trying to get my head around the whole sekrit-door-lock-button-to-let-me-get-women thing. WTF??? OF course there's also Trump claiming the Access Hollywood tape was faked *after having already kinda sorta apologized. But that's Trump: we already know he's a sociopath. (Even the NYT is intimating it with today's editorial.) The Lauer thing is institutional.
Yeah, *some* of the crazy on each side can be explained by them reacting to something else real and crazy...but not all of it on either side can be explained that way.
I had not heard about the door thing, and didn't believe it at first. But looks like it's true... How that is supposed to be a "security measure" is beyond me. I can't think of any plausible situation in which such a thing would serve a legitimate security purpose.
