In a similar vein, a few weeks/months ago there was a discussion here about legal versus illegal immigration. the point I made at the time was that the right does not really differentiate between them...their base has always seemed to be to be anti-immigrant period. Trump's order is affecting legal immigrants, not those here illegally. FWIW.
Aa, not that I disagree with your point that the right often does not really differentiate between legal and illegal immigration, the same can definitely be said about large parts of the left.
So even one mention of re-thinking immigration policy is met with shreiking accusations of being 'anti-immigrant'.
