Godly Delusions
An op-ed in the Post by Sam Harris.
Meh. Is this cutting-edge stuff out in the real world? This more-or-less approximates the most common view among very many of the people I know. Christianity gets treated with kid gloves out among the mundanes, I guess, but not so around these parts.
I disagree with Harris on a few points, but have to, ya know, do my job right now.
Something on this later if I remember...
Blood sacrifice is a pancultural phenomenon, not some viral "meme," and Harris misses the theological implications of that.

ReplyDeleteI was inspired by Peirce's "Humble Argument" in referring to blood sacrifice, which seems to be more man's idea than God's. I warned WS that some seditious folks like me might become thieves of Peirce. He was a damned good thinker.
